"Nesting"

As mentioned in my last post, I am in a nesting mood right now…well right now I’m eating baked ziti and writing this post but in the big scheme of things, I am forever sweeping, rearranging, organizing, and domesticating. I can’t wait to meet my son Chai. I’ll be 36 weeks pregnant tomorrow (February 5th), so in the spirit of welcoming new life and preparing for change, I painted this work titled, “Nesting”.

This year, I didn't make a resolution. It's not that I don't believe in them. If anything, I think making goals are great. However, my life is rapidly changing for the better and in that spirit of change, a simple resolution seemed miniscule in comparison to all the changes inevitably coming my way.

Raspberry Beret

Raspberries. That summer fruit that bleeds an inky, maroon wine. It stains fingertips and clothes. Its smoky wisps form ghost-like brushstrokes on the paper. It leaves a trail that is transparent and layered softly in some strokes; in others, the hue is rich and nearly crimson and dominant. I've been obsessed with this shade for a minute now. Paired with a light pink, the two colors complement each other in a way that's soft and familiar.
